My experience learning English at university

Hello friends,
In this opportunity I will talk about my experience learning English at university. I never learned much about English at school, and now trying to learn English at the university has been a challenge for me. This English course is my third course on this language at the university.
Considering that I have never learned English very well, my experience in this course has been useful. However, I can not say that I have really learned English. I think it is very difficult to learn English well with these courses without having a basis from my previous teaching. I think I've improved my pronunciation a little. I have also improved vocabulary a bit. But I really have not learned much. This situation is unfortunate because I have tried to learn, but it has been very difficult for me. I think that this is due to the fact that in the University there is a lot of academic load for other subjects. Students concentrate on the subjects of their careers, and unfortunately the English classes are more a procedure than a learning space In this course there has not been one unit that interests me more than another, but when we talk between classmates in classes it seems fun.
The use of blogs has been useful because I have been able to learn about grammar and vocabulary. These aspects of my English I have to improve.
I have used English to better understand some songs, but I have not done much more because I do not understand English very well.

How make it better

Hi friends, As you already know, I’m studying psychology in the Universidad de Chile. In this career there are many opportunities to choice to what work on, because there are different fields to study like educational psychology or clinical psychology among others. But the biggest problem in the psychology curriculum is that there aren’t practice subjects to approach works areas, so there should be more of them to prepare the students when they leave the university. For example, in clinical psychology is very important to have a practice before the student stands in front of a patient. About the workload, I think that in psychology academic the demand isn’t so big, considering that to be well prepared is really important to this work. According to the length of studies, it is too much, because in other countries, university careers are shorter than Chile. I think this is to get more money from the students. About faculty facilities, the biggest problem is that there aren’t enough classrooms to make the classes, at the same time, of the different career in the faculty. Two years ago the university built a building that only has offices for teachers. Besides, there isn’t cafeteria that sells breakfast and lunch as other faculties, so there should be build a cafeteria to eat inside the faculty. About the use of technology to teach, only some teachers use it but I do not think it's a big problem if they know enough to teach it well. However, the faculty should train teachers to get to know how to use the virtual platforms of the university because some of the older teachers do not know how to use them well.

Personal opinions

Hi everybody,

I think that saying our opinions is ideal, because is really important to be true whit yourself and others persons. In this post I´m going to give my opinions about different topics.

First, about tattoos I don’t have tattoos on my body but I have thought about making one. I think tattoos are a particular art expression, because it´s a permanent mark on the body. But, tattoos can be very beautiful or very ugly, like any work of art. I like to see people with many colorful tattoos on their bodies. I think I'll soon get a tattoo if I find a cute design and a good tattoo artist.

About violence on television, I think it’s really problematic topic because every contents that shows television have political implication in the people. Television doesn’t distinguish different kinds of violence, and compares for example the violence of an assault with the murder of a mapuche. Besides, I think that to inform sometimes is necessary show violence on television, but television program shows violence to attract spectators and not to inform.

The climate change is a really important topic, because many natural disasters are happening now and many natural habitats are disappearing around the world. The climate change is a natural process of the Earth, but the incidence of humanity is evident and very dangerous. The big industries and the consumer society have generated great problems in many environments. So on this problem is necessary to change our way of life and take initiatives such as recycling.

About the possession of exotic pets, I do not agree because an animal is removed from its natural habitat only to show its beauty. The trade in exotic animals treats animals as sale products and this is very horrible L

My childwood

Hi everybody, today I’m going to talk about my childhood.

When i remember days of my childhood, is recurring that in my mind appears some smell of food, like beans made by my grandmother. Besides, when I eat almonds I return to my childhood home because in that place was a big almond tree.

My childhood memories often come back to me, but I have very clear my first childhood memory. I was two year old when my sister was born, and I remember when I was in the hospital in the first time that I saw her.  Actually my memory of that is diffuse but I have a clear image of her dressed in green in the crib with my mom. This was a great childhood memory, but definitely my most favorite memory is when I was with my two brothers and my dad playing basketball in my backyard. I remember that we laughed a lot. It was very funny.

On those same afternoons of play, once my dad taught me how to ride a bicycle. It was very hard  because I fell dowm many times before learning. Also, I remember that when I was a kid, I liked to see different TV programs, like tigritos or cubox, they showed many different cartoons.

In general, I think that my childhood was a very funny moment of my life. Often, I think I would like to be kid again.

Hi everybody, tonbe honest is very difficult for me to think about future projects.


I’m studying psychology, but  I’m not sure about what I would like take in the postgraduate of this career. Maybe, I would like to study another profession to work on at the same time.

Before I get into the university, when I was thinking about which career I could study, an important option was study to be a teacher so I could do it when my actual career ends.

But, if someone asks me about what postgraduate course I would like to take in psychology, my answer would be that I’m interested  on learning psychoanalysis.

For me, psychoanalysis is more interesting than others theories in psychology. Maybe I would like to study about infant and adolecent therapy.  I think I would study a postgraduate course in Argentina or here, in Chile. Another option is Brazil, but it depends If i can learn portuguesebin a good way. I think that I won't leave Latinoamerica to study because psychology is a profession where you have to work directly with people so sounds weird to go to another continent to study about people in a different place from where i will work.

However, if I dedicate myself to psychology I will always have to learn about it, even if i take the postgraduate course or not.

Future Job

Hi everybody today I´m going to talk about my expectation of my future job.

Now, I am studying psychology in the university, and I have to study two more years here. So I have to wait for working, but I think constantly about my future job because in my career, university opens different fields of job like clinical psychology, community and social psychology, educational psychology, legal psychology and occupational psychology.

I would like to work in clinical psychology, and I am hoping to work in a public center, like COSAM, into public health system. I have in mind to work with people within their neighborhoods, so I would not like to work in a private psychological consultation.

I think I will can´t to travel a lot with this job, but I would like to study a mayor in other country someday. About of salary, I don´t think that money are very important if I make enough money to live. Also, since I want to work in the public system, I do not think I earn too much money.

In this last semester I have begun to be interested in psychoanalysis as a theoretical current for my clinical practice. So, I hope to make a specialty on this subject of clinical psychology.

Friends!

Hi everybody, today I’m going to talk about FRIENDS.

I think that friends are very important people, also someone which you can share funny moments. I think that I should ask to my friend if I am a good friend, but I can say that until now that I have many close friendly relationship. I think it´s easy for me to meet people, but there are a few of them who stays as friends. When I meet people online I don't always keep in touch with them for a long time. However in the internet I knew some people who are very important to my life. I think is very hard for me to say who is my best friend, because in my life I have had a lot of very good friends. Regardless, I think my best friend is Nicolas Flores. I met him when we were in high school, and since that moment he has been a fundamental person in my life. I remember that he always has been in the difficult moments for me. He is a very smart and nice person, who always has something good to say to me. Besides, I'm still in touch with some others classmates since I finished high school, but I don’t see them so often because my career takes a lot of time.
